FAQ

Questions rail businesses ask us

What does Sixfoot actually do?

We automate the office paperwork behind railway work: timesheets to invoices, TBS and SSoW packs, EOSRs, competence and Sentinel expiry tracking, evidence packs and the chasing that goes with all of it. Your people keep the sign-offs; the getting-ready work goes to the system.

Is this software I have to buy and install?

No. It starts as a service: a free chat, a free half-day audit of one process, then a fixed-price build of that workflow on top of the tools you already use. There is nothing to install on day one and nothing to pay until you have seen a working demo on your own forms.

What does it cost?

The chat and the half-day audit are free. The audit one-pager gives you a fixed price for the first workflow based on the hours it saves, then a monthly retainer to keep it running and add the next one. Internal audits are a fixed price by size. We don't publish a price list because every office is different; you will have a number before you commit to anything.

How long does a pilot take?

The half-day audit happens within a week or two of the first call. A first workflow is typically live within a few weeks of the proposal being agreed, depending on how many systems it has to talk to.

Who is behind it?

Mark Warren: twenty-plus years on the railway, S&T tester by trade, with office-based roles along the way. He runs his own rail company and built these tools for his own paperwork first.

Do you understand rail paperwork, or is this generic automation?

Rail first. We know what a TBS is, why the briefer's signature can't be automated, what a Sentinel card lapse costs at the access point, and what a RISQS auditor asks for. The automation is built around those rules, not around a generic template.

What about our data?

Your data stays yours. Each client's workflows and records are kept separate, we sign an NDA before the audit if you want one, and nothing is shared between clients. We will tell you exactly where your data is held before anything is built.

Which parts of the railway do you work with?

Any part with an office: S&T and signalling, track, civils, E&P, plant, labour and resourcing agencies, and Tier 1 delivery or supply-chain teams. Southern and Wessex first, then anywhere in Great Britain.

Can you help before an audit?

Yes. We run internal audits of competence records, packs, fatigue records and evidence before a RISQS, Network Rail or client audit, find the gaps and fix them. Fixed price, half a day to two days, no software needed.
